How SWAPRED Works: Red Light Therapy for Your iPhone

How SWAPRED Works: Red Light Therapy for Your iPhone What Does SWAPRED Actually Do? SWAPRED is a screen protector powered by LumaShift™ Technology — a specialized optical filter built into the lens itself. Rather than simply blocking blue light (like most screen protectors and Night Mode settings), SWAPRED converts the high-energy blue light your iPhone screen emits into beneficial red light wavelengths. The result is a screen that still looks clear and usable, but the light reaching your eyes has been fundamentally shifted — from the wavelengths most associated with eye strain, melatonin suppression, and sleep disruption, to the wavelengths least likely to cause those effects. What Will My Screen Look Like? This is one of the most common questions we get, so we want to set the right expectation upfront. SWAPRED does not make your screen look bright red. The filter is subtle — your screen will have a very slight warm, amber-red tint, similar to what you'd see if you turned your display's color temperature all the way toward warm. In normal daylight or bright indoor lighting, the tint may be barely perceptible. In a dark room, it becomes more noticeable. Think of it like wearing amber-tinted glasses — the world doesn't look dramatically red, but the quality of light reaching your eyes is meaningfully different. If your screen looks completely unchanged, that is actually normal in bright lighting conditions. The filter is still working — the LumaShift™ layer is always active regardless of whether the tint is visually obvious. Why Red Light Instead of Blue? Blue light (wavelengths around 400–490nm) is the primary culprit behind: - Eye strain and fatigue during prolonged screen use - Suppression of melatonin, the hormone that signals your brain it's time to sleep - Disrupted sleep cycles when using your phone at night Red light wavelengths (around 620–750nm) do not trigger these same effects. They don't suppress melatonin, are less fatiguing to the eyes, and are used in clinical red light therapy for skin and cellular health benefits. SWAPRED shifts your screen's output toward those red wavelengths so every minute on your phone is doing less damage — without requiring you to change how you use it. Does It Work on Top of Night Mode or True Tone? Yes. SWAPRED works at the lens level, independently of your iPhone's software settings. You can run Night Mode, True Tone, or any display settings alongside it. Using Night Mode in combination with SWAPRED will further reduce blue light exposure, but SWAPRED provides benefits even with standard display settings. Is SWAPRED Just a Blue Light Filter? No — and this distinction matters. Standard blue light blocking screen protectors and glasses reduce blue light, but they don't convert it. LumaShift™ Technology actively shifts the wavelength of the light passing through, which is a different optical mechanism than simple blocking or tinting. How to Install Your SWAPRED Screen Protector

How to Install Your SWAPRED Screen Protector Getting a perfect, bubble-free install takes about 5 minutes. Read through all the steps before you start. What's in the Box - SWAPRED screen protector - Dust removal sticker - Microfiber cleaning cloth - Wet wipe - Installation tray (holds the protector aligned to your phone) Before You Start - Find a clean, well-lit indoor space — avoid dusty or high-traffic areas - Wash and dry your hands thoroughly - Turn your iPhone screen on so you can clearly see any dust or fingerprints Installation Steps Step 1 — Clean your screen Use the wet wipe to clean your iPhone screen thoroughly. Let it dry completely before moving on — do not rush this step. Step 2 — Remove dust Use the microfiber cloth to buff the screen, then use the dust removal sticker to lift any remaining particles. Pat gently — do not drag the sticker across the screen. Step 3 — Align the tray Place your iPhone into the installation tray. The tray is model-specific and will hold your phone in the correct position so the protector lines up perfectly with your screen, camera cutout, and speaker. Step 4 — Peel the backing Carefully peel the backing film from the SWAPRED screen protector. Hold it by the edges only — avoid touching the adhesive side. Step 5 — Apply the protector With your phone sitting in the tray, lower the screen protector straight down onto the screen. Do not slide it into position — lower it straight down. The tray ensures alignment, so trust it. Step 6 — Press and secure Once the protector makes contact, press firmly from the center outward using your finger or the microfiber cloth. Work any bubbles toward the edges. Step 7 — Remove the suction tab slowly If your protector includes a suction or dust removal tab, pull it straight up and away — do not pull it sideways or at an angle. Pulling it to the side is the most common cause of the protector tearing. Slow and straight is the key. Troubleshooting Bubbles that won't go away Small bubbles near the edges usually disappear within 24–48 hours as the adhesive settles. If bubbles persist in the center of the screen, lift that corner gently with a fingernail and use the dust removal sticker to clean underneath before reapplying. Protector tore during installation If the screen protector tears during installation — particularly when removing the tab — this is covered under our warranty. Email support@swapred.com with your order number and a photo and we'll send a replacement at no charge. Screen looks misaligned If you need to reposition, act quickly — lift one edge gently before the adhesive fully bonds and reposition. Once fully bonded, repositioning is not recommended. Tips for Best Results - Do not apply in a dusty room or near an open window - Do not apply over a cracked screen — the adhesive needs a flat, clean surface - If your first attempt doesn't go perfectly, contact us — we're here to help Questions? SWAPRED vs. Regular Blue Light Blockers — What's the Difference?

SWAPRED vs. Regular Blue Light Blockers — What's the Difference? There are a lot of blue light blocking products on the market — glasses, screen protectors, phone settings. Here's how SWAPRED is different, and why it matters. Standard Blue Light Blockers: Reduce, Don't Convert Most blue light blocking products — including brands like BodyGuardz, brands with yellow-tinted lenses, and your iPhone's built-in Night Mode — work by filtering or absorbing a portion of blue light. Think of it like putting a shade over a lamp. Less blue light gets through, but the light that does pass through is still the same type. These products can meaningfully reduce blue light exposure, but they have limits: - They don't eliminate blue light, they reduce it - The yellow/amber tint can distort colors noticeably - They offer no additional benefits beyond light reduction SWAPRED: Converts Blue Light to Red Light SWAPRED uses LumaShift™ Technology — a specialized optical filter that doesn't just block blue light, it converts it into beneficial red light wavelengths before it reaches your eyes. This is a fundamentally different mechanism. Rather than simply reducing the amount of harmful light, SWAPRED transforms it into something beneficial — the same red light wavelengths used in clinical red light therapy for sleep, skin health, and cellular recovery. Side-by-Side Comparison | | Standard Blue Light Blocker | SWAPRED | |---|---|---| | Reduces blue light | ✅ | ✅ | | Converts blue light to red | ❌ | ✅ | | Visible color distortion | Often yellow/amber tint | Subtle warm tint | | Screen protection | Basic | Yes, tempered glass | | Sleep benefits | Partial | Full wavelength shift | | Red light therapy benefits | ❌ | ✅ | What About iPhone's Night Mode / True Tone? Apple's Night Mode and True Tone shift your display's color temperature toward warmer tones in software — they reduce the blue light your screen emits. This is helpful, but it's a software adjustment, not an optical conversion. SWAPRED works at the lens level, independently of your software settings. You can use Night Mode and SWAPRED together for even greater benefit, or use SWAPRED on its own without changing any display settings. The Bottom Line If you're looking for basic blue light reduction, any quality screen protector with a blue light filter will help. But if you want to go further — converting that light into something beneficial rather than just blocking part of it — SWAPRED is in a different category entirely. Shop SWAPRED →
